Our beginnings

July 9, 2004 Mark Holmes posts a request in the DPReview forums expressing a desire to meet up with like minded photographers in the San Diego area.  Just a simple meet up for a couple of hours of shooting and maybe a lunch.

Today

We are the San Diego dSLR. We welcome all DSLR photographers in the San Diego area to our online camera club. Our mission is to be a center of excellence, creativity, and sharing for DSLR photography in San Diego, California.  Our site is run by members for members.

San Diego dSLR is an on-line and in-person community of enthusiastic digital imagers in San Diego California. Our goal is to encourage DSLR owners to get the most from their camera and equipment by joining a group of photo-centric individuals who love their art and enjoy sharing their knowledge of photography. Please consider attending a group shoot - you will enjoy the opportunity to get out, meet folks, and see San Diego through your viewfinder.

We meet for regular photography group shoots on the second Saturday of each month at locations around San Diego County. The day usually includes a lunch get-together which can be as much fun as the shoot itself - photogs have to eat! The venue is usually announced on the web site about two weeks before the scheduled date. Images from the DSLR group shoots are shared on this site for all members to enjoy in a non-competitive way. In addition, many members organize and network via Picture Pals and Dinner & Some Clicks outings - it's a good way to relieve itchy shutter fingers between the regular group shoots - details will be posted on the site.

A long, long time ago...

I can still remember how that music used to make me smile.

And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance, and maybe they'd be happy for a while.

I hope somebody's writin' this down. Let's get our story straight, boys, 'fore we get back to town.

Rae

Wonder Woman by Day, Photographer by Night  - sometimes vice versa.

Fond of cats, playing horseshoes, bowling, road trips, pumpkin seeds,  eating nachos by candlelight  and drinking copious amounts of Coca Cola for breakfast  (sometimes w/rum).

Dork by Nature, but I'm cool with it.
